Methodology

How the estimate is produced.

  1. 01Establish consumptionA monthly bill is converted to units using your average electricity unit cost. Monthly units are used directly. A rooftop area is converted to capacity using the area-per-kW assumption.
  2. 02Size the systemTarget annual consumption is matched against the state-level specific yield (kWh generated per kW per year) and the customer-category offset assumption.
  3. 03Value the generationEstimated annual generation is valued at your electricity unit cost, adjusted by a realisation factor.
  4. 04Investment and paybackInvestment uses a category-level installed cost per kW. Payback is investment divided by estimated annual savings.
  5. 05Carbon reductionAnnual generation is converted to avoided emissions using a grid emission factor.
